Simone Bailey teaches students in one-on-one style to help each one succeed at Samuel Clemens High School

Simone Bailey is a math teacher at Samuel Clemens High School in the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD. She is in her fourth year of teaching and has already taken a leadership role in the math department.

She led the geometry teachers in the coordination of the new math curriculum being used this year and developed the curriculum for a new International Baccalaureate Math Studies course that started last school year.

When students are successful in math despite their fear, Ms. Bailey says this builds their confidence. That confidence carries over into other classes and into their lives outside school. She believes in teaching one-on-one to help every student be successful. She spends hours before, during, and after school tutoring students in math, including her former students that are now taking higher-level courses. Twice a week, she volunteers her time to hold a tutorial sessions during lunch for students who are working to pass their TAKS test.

According to her principal, Jeff Bryan, "Ms. Bailey is a professional in every sense of the word and always has a smile on her face."
