Sarah Erickson shares her passion for travel and learning with her students at Design and Technology Academy (DATA) in the North East ISD | ![]() |
Sarah Erickson wrote the curriculum for the exciting and unique Pre-AP class she teaches at the Design and Technical Academy, located on the Roosevelt HS campus in the North East school district. She combines World Geography with English, helping the students understand the relationship that the world land forms have with the literature and culture of those who live there.
She uses a multimedia approach to this discipline, taking advantage of the technology focus for the Academy. This unique mode of study attracts students who excel and love learning.
Ms. Erickson says teaching these bright, engaged students is easy. She considers community involvement very important and part of her curriculum includes community service. However, she remembers what it was like to be a teenager. She tries to make every part of the program exciting and fun. She tells them, "You're not kids anymore; you're adults in training. They aren't totally adults yet, but they're close - so they need to be aware that the choices they make now will impact their lives."
