Helen Zenner prepares Legacy Middle School students for the future

Helen Zenner has spent the last nineteen years as a teacher and is a role model not only to her students, but to her peers as well. Ms. Zenner thrives on encouraging others and her enthusiastic attitude abounds in her role as the Elective Department Chair at Legacy Middle School. She represents sixteen teachers in the department and mentors nine teachers new to the district.

Ms. Zenner is very proud of the Career Investigation course she teaches to all eighth graders. Students create four-year plans for high school and participate in Shadow Day as part of the curriculum. Shadow Day is a time when students spend a full day at a job they find interesting. This program has been so successful that Ms. Zenner has presented it to Region 20.

Additionally, she teaches Business Venture and Multimedia Authoring and is the Technology Coordinator for the campus. As Technology Coordinator, Ms. Zenner is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining over 500 computers and printers. It's safe to say that the school could not function without Helen Zenner.

Her student, Daniel Wallace, agrees "The environment is open. You can just talk to her about anything."
