Dianna Rabago Inspires Students at Edgewood's Perales Elementary to Never Give Up | ![]() |
Dianna Rabago is a testament to the idea of perseverance. She has been teaching at Perales Elementary school for only five years, but during that time she has become an example to not only her kindergarten students but also to her peers and administrators. They find that her love for teaching and her students is an inspiration for everyone.
As a stay-at-home mom, Ms. Rabago became involved in the schools because her children weren't performing very well. She decided to become a classroom volunteer and soon found that she could use the teaching techniques with her own children at home. After administrators noticed her passion for the classroom, they encouraged her to attend junior college. While raising a family and working as a paraprofessional, she attended Our Lady of the Lake University. Ms. Rabago completed her studies and became a certified teacher - after 14 years.
Everyone at Edgewood ISD sees her passion and commitment. Other teachers marvel at the way the children develop a bond with her and, at the same time, develop a passion for learning. Many of her former students, now high school students, come back to see her - a true measure of the difference that one teacher can make in a student's life. In her quiet way, Ms. Rabago may not have to say "never give up" because she lives those words.
