Kay Caldwell has “Great Expectations” for her Students

Kay Caldwell loves her job, “It's the most rewarding profession possible.” And it's no surprise that her English Language Arts students at Alamo Heights High School enjoy the fruits of her labor. Shakespeare reigns supreme, as do other literary classics. But most of all, it is Mrs. Caldwell's ability to connect with her students that makes her so special. She takes the time to really listen and be a role model, not only for her students, but for other teachers.

Caldwell explains, “Kindness can save the world and I try to model being fair, being kind, and being patient. That can only help society and in the process teach them English.”

Mrs. Caldwell is passionate about English and preparing her students for the future. One student explains, “She pushes us, but she makes us think more than we ever have before.” Through her “Great Expectations”, her students achieve more than they imagine possible.
