Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years experience managing voice and data networks, including PBX management, the Internet, and VOIP installations
  • In-depth knowledge of network architectures and TCP/IP
  • 5-7 years management experience in Data Center Operations (Symitar Episys experience desirable)
  • Experience with data center automation technologies
  • Knowledge of principles and applications of information technology tools, including trends in computer technology as applied to business and management information systems
  • Knowledge of capacity, characteristics, capabilities, and limitations of computer operating systems, software and peripheral equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot advanced hardware and software problems, and to secure appropriate support
  • Budget analysis and preparation skills, to include the ability to make cost projections
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and recommend long term plans and strategies for continued effective use of automated resources
  • Ability to manage, supervise, and lead others to achieve desired results
  • Solid oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to lift/carry 40 pounds
  • This position requires pre-screen testing. Candidates may be asked to take a pre-screen test if interviewed.

Duties Include:

 

 

 

  • Lead the Production Control, Computer Operations and Network Support teams in providing the technical supervision and daily operation of the Episys core system, auxiliary applications, and voice and data communications networks
  • Responsible for the daily operations of the Symitar Episys system to include maintaining the daily system availability logs and reports, all aspects of batch processing, overseeing the installation of Episys system releases and updates, ensuring  the integrity of all system databases, restoration of backups, and proper security/handling of tapes
  • Analyze and act upon data to make informed decisions and identify potential problems and risks
  • Manage all peripheral devices and configurations related to the core system, oversee offsite backup storage procedures, ensure environmental controls in the Data Center and Failover site; and monitor and coordinate any activities at the failover site
  • Provide overall coordination with 3rd Party providers
  • Achieve maximum operating efficiency to the core system batch processing cycle
  • Manage the Change Management process as it relates to modification to systems, applications and networks in the Data Center and Failover site
  • Coordinate special job processing requests
  • Manage all aspects of the voice and data communications networks
  • Respond to and resolve all network incidents, ensuring optimum availability of network resources
  • Oversee the Internet and associated security controls
  • Manage the local and wide area network infrastructure and monitor all networks
  • Manage activities of staff to achieve established goals; Ensure work area is adequately staffed and equipped; Set performance standards, provide clear direction, delegate, and schedule work
  • Monitor performance, provide performance feedback, and conduct performance appraisals
  • Train, coach, counsel and provide general direction and guidance to direct reports
  • Create and maintain the computer operator shift schedule, ensuring increased staffing during critical processing dates
  • Maintain accurate configuration and documentation for all server hardware and software systems
  • Ensure operational documentation, policies and procedures are current
  • Maintain an effective disaster recovery plan and test the plan annually
  • Provide input to compile data for the annual operating budget
  • Represent the department on various committee assignments as requested by manager; Complete special projects as assigned.
