Qualifications

Include:

 

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and a minimum eight years experience in credit underwriting or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of Fannie Mae Guidelines, DU® and quality control guidelines.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment tools used to decision mortgage loans.
  • Knowledge of credit and collateral underwriting guidelines and rules/regulations governed by state and federal agencies.
  • Knowledgeable in real estate underwriting principles to include secondary marketing automated underwriting engines.
  • Strong analytical problem solving, negotiation, and organization skills.
  • Experience in business development.
  • Strong PC skills to include MS Word, Excel, Outlook and automated underwriting systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate credit decisions.
  • The ability to use good, sound judgment and possess strong decision-making skills.
  • Aptitude for working in a team environment.

  • 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Duties:

 

 

 

  • Reviews and evaluates credit package and collateral for residential mortgage loans and underwrites for eligibility
  • Opens the file to include initial review for completeness, preparation of the initial disclosure package and ordering of third party utilizing appropriate documentation efficiencies.
  • Underwrites and approves or denies mortgage loans within authorized lending authority.  Escalates any underwriting issues to the Business or Production Manager
  • Directs team’s daily operations; participates in and supervises team members to ensure audits are thoroughly and efficiently performed
  • Professionally communicates the value of the product and service to mortgage brokers and the credit decision and the loan process to brokers, realtors, builders and other external interest parties.
  • Maintains current information regarding secondary market underwriting guidelines such as Fannie Mae and private mortgage insurance and those credit standards established by SACU.
  • Stays abreast of internal lending policies, practices, guidelines, lending systems and products as well as regulatory, economic and competitive environments.
