A loan designed for students which enables them to pay for educational expenses. Federal Stafford Loans are either Subsidized or Unsubsidized.
- Government pays interest due on Subsidized Stafford loans during in-school, grace and deferment periods
- Borrower Pays all interest due on Unsubsidized Stafford Loans
- Financial eligibility is determined by the school
- Student must be enrolled at least half-time
- Student must maintain satisfactory academic progress
- The loans feature a fixed interest rate
- A six month grace period is provided before repayment begins on the Stafford loans. This grace period begins after you graduate, leave school or drop below half-time status
A loan designed for parents to pay for educational expenses of each dependent, undergraduate student. Under the Federal Plus Loan, parents must be credit worthy.
- Repayment begins within 60 days after final loan disbursement
- Financial eligibility is determined by the school
- Dependent student must be enrolled at least half-time
- Dependent student must maintain satisfactory academic progress
- The loans feature a fixed interest rate
A loan that enables graduate and professional students who are credit worthy to borrow additional money to cover 100% of the remaining educational costs.
- Repayment begins within 60 days after final loan disbursement
- Financial eligibility is determined by the school
- Student must be enrolled at least half-time
- Student must maintain satisfactory academic progress
