Jill Gable Inspires Creativity at South San Antonio High School Picture of Jill Gable

Jill Gable helps her students shine in her Theater Arts classes at South San Antonio High School. Ms. Gable began teaching at South San Antonio ISD 16 years ago at Kazen Middle School. While there, she re-energized the theater program for the district, writing many of the plays that her students performed that first year because there weren't any funds to purchase the rights to copyrighted material.

She spends countless hours coaching and mentoring her students; they learn everything from set design to improvisation. More importantly, Gable encourages her students to dream and work to turn dreams into realities.

"I always thought after high school I would go to work. But she told me how important a college education is," said graduating senior Christian Escamilla.

Now Christian is the first in his family heading to college. His story rings true for many other students lucky enough to have Ms. Gable as a teacher, mentor and friend.
