SACU announces the appointment of Professor Blaise C. Bender, MS, MPA, CPA, JD, to serve as a member of the SACU Supervisory Committee.

Professor Bender is associate professor of accounting and law at Our Lady of the Lake University. He has experience in public accounting work for three of the formerly "Big Six" accounting firms: Arthur Andersen & Co., Deloitte Touche, and Ernst and Young. He also has worked as a controller and corporate financial officer in private industry and provides consultant services for clients, including Fortune 500 companies and national non-profit organizations. He has also chaired numerous for profit and non-profit boards in San Antonio.

The primary function of the SACU volunteer Supervisory Committee is to ensure that management practices and procedures safeguard members' assets. Professor Bender joins Carol L. Karotkin, Chair, and members Ramon Abarca, Peter C. Morales and Larry L. Roberson who presently serve on the Supervisory Committee.
