SACU announces that Leslie J.A. Sachanowicz, J.D., has joined the management team as senior vice president and corporate counsel. Sachanowicz served on the SACU Board of Directors from 1997, and has served as vice chairman since 2004. He previously served on the SACU Supervisory Committee from 1995-1997.
Sachanowicz has worked with the Bexar County District Attorney's Office, Civil Division, since 1990, as a civil trial attorney, and he has tried cases in state justice of the peace, county, district and federal courts. His successful appellate work includes appearances before the State of Texas Fourth Court of Appeals and the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. He has provided civil trial defense for elected officials and employees in numerous areas of the law. He negotiated and drafted the first contract that brought hockey and the San Antonio Iguanas to San Antonio.
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Arts from Southwest Texas State University, Sachanowicz received his Juris Doctorate from St. Mary's University School of Law. He is a published author in numerous publications concerning legal issues and is active in providing continuing legal education for other professionals. He is an adjunct faculty member at San Antonio College and adjunct professor at St. Mary's School of Law. He has served on numerous civic boards, including Leadership San Antonio, San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Avance, and City Year San Antonio. He currently serves with Alamo Area Kiwanis and Los Compadres.
