Greg Brockhouse was honored with the Solar San Antonio Solar Heroes Award for his outstanding efforts in helping make financing available for residential solar home improvement projects in the greater San Antonio area.

Lanny Sinkin, Executive Director of Solar San Antonio, said, "There is no question that financing has been a major challenge in the solar field. The work of Greg Brockhouse and SACU has definitely helped meet that challenge." The nonprofit Solar San Antonio created the Solar Hero awards to acknowledge people who advanced the adoption of solar in San Antonio.

Brockhouse, as an SACU lending manager, worked with Solar San Antonio to create the model for a loan to take advantage of generous rebates from CPS Energy and the Federal government, making solar home improvements more affordable to residents in San Antonio. SACU led the field in providing solar home improvement loans to the public and was part of the Bring Solar Home campaign that began in September 2010.
