SACU offered FREE VIN Etching and H.E.A.T. Registration as a service to the community at its SACU Main Office parking lot on IH-10 West and Vance Jackson, in cooperation with the San Antonio Police Department and the Bexar County Sheriff's Office Regional Auto Crimes Team (ReACT). Almost 100 vehicle owners took advantage of the free service during the 4-hour event.
Local law enforcement agencies have teamed up to provide Vehicle Crime Prevention Fairs. The 10-minute etching process makes a vehicle much less attractive to a thief, because the parts can be traced to a stolen car or truck. They also share tips on protecting property, including simple things like locking your car, removing personal possessions from the vehicle (including the trunk) and taking the keys (including hidden spares).
"Fairs such as this can help lower the numbers of vehicles stolen, saving our community thousands of dollars each year. SACU is planning additional events at many of its branches in the future to provide members, employees and the public access to this FREE service. Watch the SACU Seasons quarterly newsletter and visit sacu.com for details," Yvonne De La Rosa, SACU Director of Corporate Relations, said
