Jennifer White ignites a passion for learning in her Timberwood Park Elementary Students. | ![]() |
You might say that teaching is in Jennifer White's blood; her mother, Carol McDowell has been teaching 6th grade at Spring Hill Middle School in Longview for the last 31 years. White learned from her mother that teaching is much more that standing in front of a class and presenting information. Teaching to White is all about interaction; it's building a relationship with them.
Her fifth grade students at Timberwood Park Elementary agree. "She helps me learn in every different way I can imagine," said Fifth grader Lillie Nowak.
While students work together in small groups, Jennifer White works with each to set goals. Every goal is different, tailored to individual students. "She doesn't baby us," exclaimed Fifth grader Ava Weissgarber.
White stresses the importance of being independent and responsible learners to her students, skills that will serve them well as they continue on with their education.
