SACU brings our own "Oscars" to schools in San Antonio

SACU begins 9th year of bringing the "Oscars" to San Antonio area teachers
Since 1999, SACU and its partner, KENS TV 5, have brought the Oscars to San Antonio and helped teachers walk their own red carpet in special school assembly programs.
In the past eight years, SACU and KENS TV have honored 152 public school teachers in the Greater San Antonio area with a Golden Apple trophy, manufactured by the company that makes the Oscars for the Academy Awards, and a check for $1,000.
Each teacher is presented the award at his or her school, with KENS Anchor Deborah Knapp officiating. That same week KENS TV airs a special feature on Thursday with video of the teacher, the students and the school, focusing on what is going RIGHT in our schools every day! Watch for the programs which air on Eyewitness News at 6, beginning in September and continuing approximately every two weeks through April 2007. If you would like to honor YOUR favorite teacher, please contact the school's principal or the district superintendent's office to make your recommendation.
